Miami residents believe the food they buy at the grocery store is safe. No one expects they will get sick or injured because of something they eat. Unfortunately, food recalls are common in the United States. A recent recall involved a popular sausage product that has caused consumers alarm.

The USDA recently announced that it is recalling over 46,000 pounds of sausage. The Bob Evans sausage was received consumer complaints of extra product in the sausage. Consumers had found pieces of hard plastic in sausage they had purchased. Bob Evans sausage and house sausage made for Meijer, Schnucks, and Giant Eagle have been recalled. Customers are being asked to throw the product away or return them to the store for a refund.

Food manufacturers should have the customer’s safety as their top priority. When a manufacturer takes shortcuts or doesn’t do proper inspections, consumers can suffer the consequences. If a person believes they have been injured by a product they may want to speak with an attorney who specializes in product liability and personal injury. An attorney understands how traumatic this injury can be and can make sure their client’s legal rights are protected. They can investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and help to determine what happened and who is at fault. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages.

No one expects the food they eat will harm them. Unfortunately, manufacturers sometimes take short cuts and do not do the proper safety checks and quality control they should. In these cases, they should be held responsible for their mistakes.
