With more than three decades of experience in U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law, Maria Isabel “Marisa” Casablanca is officially joining the offices of Kurzban Kurzban Tetzeli & Pratt PA as “Of Counsel”. Marisa represents corporate clients and individuals in obtaining immigration assistance and benefits. She is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by The Florida Bar and Chairs the Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee (11D) Law. She has also served on national liaison committees with USCIS, the Department of Labor and the Department of State. She has published numerous articles and been quoted in Law360 and other media posts. She recently published the 5th edition of her book “Immigration Law for Paralegals” by Carolina Academic Press.
Clients seek Marisa’s reliable counsel on the full spectrum of immigration issues, including obtaining employment visas, investment and business-related visas and residency for foreign nationals, representing family members of permanent residents and U.S. Citizens, and assisting those seeking asylum. Marisa is a highly experienced litigator that practices in all areas of Immigration law. She has filed a petition for certiorari with the Supreme Court on an immigration issue that conflicted with different states. She files writs of mandamus and habeas with the Southern District of Florida. Additionally, Marisa advises employers on worksite compliance procedures and represents employers before Immigration and Customs Enforcement with respect to audits. She continues to counsel individuals on how to maintain their status in the United States and assist them in planning their permanent residence in the United States. Clients refer to her as the attorney of hard cases as she can think out of the box and apply innovative strategies.
