What Are My Rights As A Patient In Florida?
Florida hospital patients have rights, among them the right to be given information concerning their diagnosis, treatment, alternatives, risks, and prognosis. You also have rights under our civil justice system to seek compensation if your health care provider was negligent in providing your care and you were injured as a result.
At Kurzban Kurzban Tetzeli & Pratt, P.A., our attorneys are here to protect your rights if you have suffered a serious injury or a loved one has died due to medical negligence or malpractice. To discuss your case with one of our attorneys, call (786) 788-8557.
Under Florida law, you have certain rights as a patient of a health care professional. Those rights include:
- The right to individual dignity
- The right to information
- The right to financial disclosure
Florida statutes provide specific information about your rights in Section 381.026. You also have the right to express grievances to your health care provider regarding alleged violations of your rights. Your health care provider is required by law to provide you the facility’s procedures for expressing a grievance.
You May Be Entitled To Compensation
If your medical provider was guilty of malpractice and you suffered a serious injury as a result, you also have rights under our civil justice system. Our attorneys offer a free initial consultation to evaluate your case. If your doctor committed medical malpractice, you can seek compensation for losses such as:
- Medical expenses
- Lost wages
- Pain and suffering
- Permanent impairment or death
Our attorneys have recovered millions of dollars in compensation for patients who suffered serious injuries as a result of negligence by the medical provider. We also represent families in cases of wrongful death.
