NTSB issues initial report regarding fatal Tesla crash

Tesla brand cars are very popular among Miami residents. Despite their expensive price tags, many have been drawn to the brand because they are electric and because of their advanced features, including autopilot in some models. But, after a deadly crash that occurred in March in Delray Beach, the National Transportation Safety Board decided to do an investigation.

The fatal accident involved a Tesla Model 3 that was engaged in autopilot. The car ran into a semi-truck that was driving across the southbound lanes of US 441. The Tesla did not slow down and was traveling at approximately 68 miles per hour when it hit the semi-truck. The impact of the crash sheared off the top of the Tesla when it went under the semi-truck. As the result of the crash, the driver of the Tesla died. The NTSB believes that neither the Tesla software controls with autopilot system nor the driver tried to evade the crash. The NTSB is continuing to investigate the crash and plans on issuing safety recommendations in order to prevent future crashes.

Self-driving cars may become common in the future, but when they are released to the public before they are thoroughly tested they can kill people. If a person has been injured due to a faulty product, they may have products liability legal options. It is important to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and determine what happened to cause it. The manufacturer could be held responsible for negligence and it may be possible to recover compensation for funeral expenses, lost wages, medical expenses, pain and suffering and other damages.

Although a Tesla is a very popular car among Miami residents there have been some alarming crashes lately. These crashes appear to be the result of a manufacturer error. More research needs to be done to ensure these cars are safe for all drivers and manufacturers need to be held accountable.
