Migrant border crossings continue to rise

There are many ways in which immigrants enter the U.S. Whether by boat, airplane or by foot at the border, immigrants continue to come into the U.S. There are many in the Miami area who are immigrants or whose relatives were immigrants. Despite government efforts, the numbers of immigrants entering the U.S. continues to rise.

In February, 76,000 people were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border. This is the highest number in 11 years and were mainly unaccompanied minors and families. Most of the immigrants were not trying to sneak in the country, but actually went through a border crossing and sought out an agent in order to apply for asylum. Many of these immigrants are from poor countries and are trying to enter the U.S. to start a better life. Those coming from Guatemala, for example, have been pushed off their land and are facing food insecurity. Experts believe the influx at the border will continue to rise as immigrants try to enter the U.S. before it becomes more difficult.

Those who are coming to the U.S. as an immigrant often want to build a safer and more prosperous life for themselves and their family. Immigrants understand that the immigration process in the U.S. can be complicated and take years. There are many options available for an immigrant, including obtaining a visa or seeking asylum. It is important to understand the process and the available legal rights and protections in order to attempt to fight to stay in the U.S.

The number of immigrants entering the U.S. continues to rise despite American policies towards immigration. It is important for immigrants to understand that they do have legal rights and options to learn more to understand the complicated immigration process.
