Fatal car crash claims life of elderly Florida man

On behalf of Kurzban Kurzban Tetzeli and Pratt P.A. | Jun 12, 2016 | Wrongful Death

Florida drivers who are obeying the rules of the road and are simply going about their business can still be affected by a car crash and its aftermath. Unfortunately, in some of these accidents, the impact can be so severe that it leads to a fatality. The family of the person who died will not only have to face the loss of a loved one on a personal basis, but there are ancillary issues that accompany any wrongful death that must be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to pursue a legal filing seeking damages.

A hit-and-run crash on the interstate killed a 68-year-old man. The accident occurred as the man who died was driving his 1996 Ford Ranger pickup and was rear-ended by a 2015 Jaguar XF. The Ford was forced off the road and flipped over, killing its driver. After the accident, the 48-year-old driver of the Jaguar left the scene in the car and then abandoned the vehicle to flee on foot when the car became inoperable. He was caught soon after and taken to the hospital. He has hired an attorney as the investigation continues.

When there is any kind of fatal accident, there will be a great deal that the family left behind will have to think about. Funeral costs are one matter, but other issues are also important. For example, the person who died might have been a significant contributor to the household in a variety of ways. It does not just have to be financial, but emotional and practical as well. With that, there could be numerous costs that arise in addition to the expenses as a result of the death. Those who have lost a loved one in a fatal accident must be fully cognizant of what they are up against and protect themselves.

Insurance companies are most interested in keeping costs as low as possible. With that in mind, any potential settlement offer is likely to be limited in how much it helps the family. In this case, a man was driving his Ford pickup when he was rear-ended and killed by a driver who then decided to try and run from the scene. Considering the circumstances of this fatal car crash, it is imperative that the family know their rights by discussing a potential case with a qualified lawyer as soon as possible.
