A 39-year-old man from Naples died in a motorcycle-car accident in Golden Gate. The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Golden Gate Parkway and Collier Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The 29-year-old driver of the car received a citation for an improper left turn in relation to the accident. She was uninjured in the resulting crash.
The victim was traveling south on Collier Boulevard when the driver turned left in front of him. He attempted to brake and avoid the collision but struck the right front fender of the vehicle. He died at the scene of the crash from injuries sustained in the collision. The driver had a green traffic signal when she made the turn but not a green arrow, indicating that she should have yielded to oncoming traffic, according to authorities.
A motorcycle accident victim may suffer serious injuries or death while a car driver remains uninjured. This is due to the very different realities of an impact while riding a motorcycle and while driving a car. Car drivers and passengers have the protection of seat belts, air bags and other safety devices while motorcycle riders have little protection beyond a helmet, if they are wearing one.
A motorcycle accident attorney may represent the victim of a motorcycle accident or his or her survivors in a suit for damages. A family may file a wrongful death suit against a driver if a loved one is killed in a motorcycle crash and a surviving victim of such an accident may sue for medical expenses and other costs as well as pain and suffering. A motorcycle accident attorney may be able to help victims or family members recover these damages from the driver responsible for the accident.
