Florida Highway Patrol investigates fatal multi-car crash

When something goes wrong on the road, the results can be devastating. Even if the initial incident involved one vehicle, other cars can be impacted - a single-car accident can lead to secondary accidents.

Last week, a semi truck had been traveling down the highway during rush hour. All of a sudden, two wheels on one side of the truck came off; one wheel flew into oncoming traffic. A young woman was driving when she collided with the wheel. Then, a second car crashed into the vehicle right behind the young woman, causing that driver to rear-end the young woman.

Florida Highway Patrol is still not sure how the second car crash occurred and whether it was related to the loose wheel from the semi truck. But after the third car crashed into the young woman's car, the third car caught on fire. Responders were unable to rescue that driver in time.

The young woman was transported to a local medical center for treatment of her minor injuries. It is unclear whether the other individuals involved sustained any injuries. At this point, it appears that FHP is still investigating the crash.

Multi-vehicle accidents like this one can cause a lot of damage to both persons and vehicles. It is especially difficult when someone is killed.

Victims of car accidents are often faced with medical expenses and insurance claims. If seriously injured, it can be challenging to rest and recover when trying to also take care of these kinds of issues.

If the driver who caused the accident is found negligent, victims can seek compensation. Families of victims killed in accidents can also seek compensation through a wrongful death claim. This can help with some of the costs that arise with an unexpected death or injuries.
