Florida car accident caused by driver going in wrong direction

It is probably frightening driving down the road at 1 a.m. and seeing headlights approaching very rapidly. Like in many car accidents, drivers in this situation often have very little time to react before colliding with the oncoming vehicle.

This scenario occurred in Florida earlier this week. One person was killed in a multi-vehicle chain reaction accident. The driver of an SUV was traveling in the wrong direction and crashed into a vehicle driven by a young woman. The SUV then struck another passing vehicle, flipped over, then caught on fire.

Responders arrived to find three people trapped inside of their vehicles. The driver of the first car that was hit and her passenger were both transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The driver suffered serious injuries from the crash; the passenger did not survive. The driver of the second vehicle that was hit by the SUV was brought to a local health center with unknown injuries.

The driver of the SUV who was trapped in the flipped, burning vehicle was brought to the burn unit of a hospital in Gainesville, Florida to be treated for serious burn injuries. Currently there is no information as to whether the SUV driver will be facing any criminal charges. The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident to determine why the SUV driver was driving into oncoming traffic.

Car accidents can have many consequences, both physically and emotionally. Physically, each person affected by this crash suffered some sort of injury. More serious injuries can have long-term consequences and even alter the course of one's life.

The emotional damages can be more far-reaching. The family of the victim who died will never be able to get their loved one back and the driver of the SUV will be faced with the reality that he caused a crash that killed someone.
