Wrongful death on highway in Florida being investigated

On Behalf of | Jul 11, 2014 | Wrongful Death |

The death of this man is a good reminder of how important it is to be aware when you’re driving. According to a June 28 report, the man was a tow truck driver who was helping move a disabled vehicle off the roads. He had stepped outside his vehicle on the interstate during the job, and that’s when he was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer.

When someone is involved in a pedestrian accident like this one, it can end with injuries or a wrongful death. When you’re the one who is injured, you may seek compensation for your injuries. In cases like this one, the man’s family would need to do so.

According to the authorities, the tow truck driver was on the shoulder of I-95 just north of State Road 16. He was assisting a vehicle that was disabled along the side of the road at around 3:00 a.m. It was then that he was struck by a tractor-trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

There are a few unanswered questions about this situation, like if the driver of the semi had been in his lane, speeding or paying attention. Because of the fatality, the police will need to complete an investigation into the scene and accident to determine what the cause was. They did report that the 41-year-old tow truck driver was still alive at the scene, but he later died at UF Health Jacksonville.

When you’re involved in this kind of accident, knowing the reason it happened can change everything. If negligence or reckless driving is at fault, you may be able to seek compensation for your pain and suffering and other claims.
