Coolers being recalled after Pompano Beach boy is trapped

On Behalf of | Mar 14, 2019 | Products Liability |

Parents in the Miami area know how their children always seem to be getting into mischief. Most of the time the kids may be naughty but they are not in any danger. Product manufacturers understand the importance of making their merchandise safe for everyone but occasionally an accident occurs that causes a product recall of a dangerous product.

A 5-year-old Pompano Beach boy was recently involved in a serious incident. The boy was playing a hide-and-go seek game and thought he had found an excellent hiding place inside a 72-quart-cooler that was on his back deck. The boy brought the lid down and it latched and trapped him inside. Luckily his family realized what had happened and rushed to his aid. The manufacturer of the cooler, Igloo, has recalled 4 models of the marine cooler in an effort to prevent anyone else from being trapped.

When consumers use a product that is unsafe, serious accidents can occur. It is important that manufacturers take the time to properly test their product. If a person has been injured by a product they may want to speak with an attorney who specializes in products liability. An attorney understands that some products can be dangerous and will work hard to make sure that product is removed. They can represent the family of injured victims and use expert witnesses to investigate the faults of a product. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other damages.

A dangerous product can unexpectedly seriously injure or kill someone. Victims of a dangerous product have the legal right to hold the manufacturer accountable for their mistake.
