On Behalf of | Nov 22, 2018 | Wrongful Death |

The unexpected death of a loved one is a terrible event in the life of a family. No one expects their loved one will be killed by another person’s negligence, especially in a fatal car crash. Unfortunately, many Miami drivers do not follow safe driving practices and engage in risky behavior, such as speeding. And, those who should know better, like police officers, are not exempt from bad driving.

A Miami-Dade police officer was recently charged with vehicular manslaughter for crashing into another car while speeding. The officer was driving at double the speed limit and went through a stop sign where he hit another car. The car that was hit was a crumpled mess, and its driver died at the scene. The police officer’s black box showed that he was driving 78 mph in a 40-mph zone. It also appeared he did not have his headlights on or his police lights and siren and was not responding to a call at the time of the accident.

Regardless of a person’s occupation, they can still make bad choices. When a person has caused the death of another person due to their negligence, it is important that they are held accountable. A legal professional who is skilled in wrongful death can help the victim’s family find out what led to the accident and who is at fault. They can get justice for the deceased’s family and compensation may be available for medical expenses, funeral expenses, pain and suffering and other damages.

No one expects their loved one will not come home because they have been in a tragic accident. When the accident is caused by someone else’s negligence, it is important to hold them responsible for their mistake.
